Chapter 3: In Sickness and in Health

Lionel is a little older than Cameron, and graduated high school before she did, but the difference in their age didn't change their relationship. Lionel was willing to wait for her. Risk, now an elder, asked to meet her daughter's boyfriend since the relationship seemed to be serious.

While they were watching TV, Cameron had one of her hallucinations, jumping up suddenly to fend off attackers only she could see.

Lionel couldn't get through to her during her fit; whatever she was seeing had pushed him completely out of her view. It was as though he wasn't even there. Not knowing what else to do, he mumbled that it was getting late and he had to leave, though of course she heard none of it, and he left, for the first time having serious doubts about the relationship.

But when Cameron's birthday came, Lionel was there.
"You're sure about this?" Risk asks, taking Lionel aside, "It won't be easy." It isn't pleasant to admit, but Risk figures it's better to be honest with his daughter's suitor ahead of time.
"She's everything yo me," Lionel answers confidently, having had a few days to reflect on it, "And she needs me."

And with a blow of the birthday candles, Cameron became a woman. Zoe overcame her shyness to meet her daughter's boyfriend.

Cameron whisked Lionel off into the kitchen to get him alone.
"You promised to marry me as soon as I was old enough," she reminded him.
"No" he answers, "It was you who promised me. You aren't going to make me wait, are you?"

Cameron took a job with the local police force, because that would be the last thing They would expect, and it's important to always stay a step ahead of Them. Lionel set up his sculpture studio above the garage where Risk kept his design office.

Cameron still has her fits and hallucinations, and her parents worry about the fate of the child she carries. Will this insanity run in the family?

Lionel is not without his own neuroses, constantly checking the stove and sinks in the house.

He spends a lot time brushing his teeth, over and over. They send messages through fillings in your teeth, so it's important not to get cavities in the first place.

Risk keeps his head down, trying to avoid the flying chunks of ice.

Lionel calls this piece "Necessary Evil". The sneaky things constantly need to be checked up on, but you can't brush your teeth or wash your hands without them.

Young Spider is not impressed with his father's hand puppet show.
The youngest McDermott has inherited his father's neuroses and his mother's genius, with no sign of insanity so far.

Challenge Notes:
Roll for Generation Three: I used lytefoot's variations on the family structure rules for this roll. So, family structure is Mixed Family with 2 children (Couple with at least one biological child and one adopted.) Primary income is Ghost Hunter and secondary is photographer. The generation goal is Party to Remember and the misc fun is, again, Random Traits. That's 3 in a row for that one.
So far everything is going well for Gen. 2. I have a basement beneath the garage to stash stuff for the 'hoarder' goal. That goal isn't actually much of a challenge, actually. And the kids are all getting random traits.
Cameron rolled Star Quality as her adult trait. Lionel is Childish, Clumsy, Athletic, Loves the Outdoors and of course, Neurotic. They are both in their rolled careers. They have 2 kids to go.
